In memoriam: Peter Morwood
From Diane Duane:
It is with tremendous sorrow that I must let Peter Morwood’s many, many friends and online followers know that Peter passed away suddenly on the morning of May 9th, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 68.
In accordance with Peter’s wishes—for he hated funerals with a great passion, and (whenever the subject came up) insisted that under no circumstances did he want one inflicted on the people he cared about—there will have been no public funeral service. A private cremation has taken place.
However, also in accordance with Peter’s wishes*, there will be celebrations of his life, his career, and his many friendships, held in both Ireland and the UK during the Autumn of 2025. When scheduling and locations for these events have been sorted out, that information will be posted on this page for those who might like to attend one or another of them. Please bookmark it for your reference. …Announcements of dates, locations and times for these events will also be made on my social media accounts at Instagram, Bluesky and X.
Those desiring to make a memorial contribution to a worthy cause in Peter’s name are encouraged to do so by donating to Médecins Sans Frontières (https://www.msf.ie), to their local charity supporting cardiopulmonary research and people with heart conditions, or to a chosen pet support charity… especially local pet charities that support cats.
I want to thank everyone who reads this for the support and fondness for Peter that I know so many of you will express on hearing the news (and have indeed expressed already). He’d blush over it, I know. He always did.
Meanwhile, let me say to all of you, so urgently: Hug your loved ones now, while you can: and tell them that you love them. For eventually, and inevitably, a day will come when—expected or not—your opportunities end.
